Downtown coffee shops in Okotoks to check out ...

More frequently than maybe I should, I love to visit downtown Okotoks finest coffee shops.  Each of these wonderful establishments offers something a little different with their unique blend of atmosphere, surroundings and delights!

Tribal Connections Market – 41 McRae St, Okotoks, (403) 995 1898

Tribal Connections is owned and operated by the dynamic duo Jodi and Wendy.

If you are looking for a fantastic place for those unique gifts from jewelry to clothing, trinkets you didn’t think you needed, or spiritual guidance then step inside this one-of-a-kind piece of heaven.  There is so much to take in, and the staff are wonderful.

I have two favorite cuppas here, the Chai tea latte is to die for, and I love love love their Match Green Tea lattes too. You have the choice of 4 places to catch up with friends in this gem.  From the front patio, you can enjoy the full sun, or sit under the shade from the mature trees out front.  Also, there is the front deck which is smaller and more intimate.  The internal courtyard is a firm favorite.  This little mini sanctuary is quiet, has a handful of tables and chairs, and is a wonderful place to switch off from the world!!  Inside at the back of the store, is a large inviting area, with a number of tables and chairs including some comfy couches.

This area is also very popular with the live entertainment scene.  Music from the likes of Mitch Belot and Amy Bishop, open mic nights, comedians and more.  If you are interested in a get-together with friends and family for a wine night this would be a great place to hang out.  Food includes soups, sandwiches and some baked goods.  If you are looking for something different, something fun, somewhere to escape for an hour or two then Tribal is definitely worth a visit for sure!!

Homeground Coffee – 22 North Railway Street, Okotoks, (403) 995-9948

Homeground coffee is a stone’s throw away from the Town square.  It has a wonderful front patio with a number of tables and chairs and umbrellas.  Inside it is like a warm welcoming living room. Nicely spaced out seating including a sofa towards the back of the shop.  There is a vast area of on-site baked goods ranging from scones to cakes and everything in between.  The savoury selection has wraps, sandwiches and so much more.

My favourite drink here would be the London Fog. A completely new drink to me when I first moved here.  If you haven’t tried one of these I definitely recommend it.  A London Fog consists of Earl Grey tea (bear with me here, I was that person that hated the thought of a bergamot fragrant tea, yuck!!) But trust me on this.  Once you infuse frothy milk with the Earl Grey tea bag and vanilla syrup, something magical happens.  The taste buds come alive and this amazing drink dances back and forth in your mouth.  Once you taste this cuppa it is likely to become a firm favourite!!

94 Take the Cake – 94 Elma St, Okotoks – (403) 587 757 1090

94 Take the Cake is located in the extra special Historical district of Okotoks.   Here some of the buildings date back to the early 1900s and the street is lined with lots of trees and character that just does not exist in modern times anymore.

The owner Sherry decided on an extremely unique and eye-catching idea on the property’s decor.  This is very much a 2D experience and really has to be seen to be believed.  Every inch of the place has been painted by artists to encapture a viral photo opportunity that brings customers from far and wide.  A huge talking point for many.

Not only is it a very special atmosphere, but Sherry also serves up many homemade goodies that will not disappoint.  As well as baked goods, Sherry often runs classes from the store, the latest being a Macron class, and also this month is a Comic Cake class.
